MiniFile for WordPress

MiniFile Image Optimizer brings the same compression behind minifile.app directly into your WordPress media library. Instead of exporting images to a browser tool, it compresses them right on your server as part of your normal upload and media workflow.

What it does

• Automatically compresses every new upload, including every generated thumbnail size.
• A Bulk Optimize screen under Media that compresses everything already in your library.
• Supports JPG, PNG, WEBP, and AVIF, with optional conversion between formats.
• PNG is always re-saved losslessly, regardless of the quality setting.
• Keeps a backup of every original before it touches it, with one-click restore if you ever want the untouched file back.

How to install it

MiniFile isn't listed on the WordPress.org plugin directory yet, so install it manually:

1. Download the .zip file using the button above.
2. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
3. Choose the downloaded file and click Install Now.
4. Once installed, click Activate.
5. Configure format and quality under Settings → MiniFile.
6. Optimize your existing library under Media → Bulk Optimize.

Requires WordPress 5.8 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. AVIF encoding requires PHP 8.1+ with GD's AVIF support enabled. No third-party service is involved, all compression runs on your own server via PHP's GD library.
